Success starts now! Build independence and success from an early age with 4to24.
The 4to24 app is a resource for parents of children and youth who are blind or have low vision between
the ages of 4 and 24.
4to24 provides information, activities, and links to resources to inform parents about the skills and
experiences that would benefit their child as they grow. Its focus is on building independence over time
to prepare the young person for successful employment and independent living as an adult. Starting
early to build these skills provides many advantages for the youth’s future.
Information is provided in modules on topics like building social skills, literacy, technology, academics,
and daily living skills. Modules are self-paced (no deadlines!), so parents can use the information at their
convenience.
Youth with blindness or low vision who are aged 16 to 24 can also use the app and will receive the same
topics, but written directly for them.
To sign up and register as a new user, you’ll provide some basic information, like youth age and grade.
Then you’ll complete a checklist of skills or activities the youth has already accomplished, so that the
app can start your information at the right level.
You’ll start with some initial modules selected for you, where you can read through them and complete
any of the suggested activities. Once you’re done with a module, mark it as “complete” and you’ll
receive a new one in the next day or so. 4to24 will send you a notification about new modules when
they get assigned to you – so be sure to allow notifications during setup!
The 4to24 dashboard will list your activity in the app and your current modules, and will allow you to
view your progress through the topics.
Information will take the youth through elementary and high school, college or other training, and into
early career. Check out 4to24 for the added support and information that can help youth with blindness
or low vision to become thriving adults!
